AW/EHB/1.15413 (contd) 3. 10. New open body, with drivers entrance on off side, hood and wind screen. 11. C.A.V. Dynamo. 12. Tappets with increased wearing surface. 13. Throttle with recess as fitted to the Austrian cars. 14. No rear shock absorbers, springs put together dry. We are sending with the car a split footbrake drum and a solid barrel for the engine coupling for experimental purposes. Steering Pivots. (X.168) File We have been making tests with the buffer cross steering tube, the one got out by Mr Royce. It has a buffer each end of the tube, which only works one way, on compression. The only strength of spring we have been able to test is 800 lbs, the others are not yet in from the makers.. We have cracked three pivots with it in use on the track test, the first one took 135 mins., the second one 240 mins., and the third one 140 mins. The average time for the one with the straight solid cross tube is 60 min so that we are very much better. We are expecting the other springs from the makers daily and we shall test them as soon as they arrive. Effect of balance weights on lubrication. X.335 We are starting on this test immediately. Valve Springs. We have valve springs to test from six different makers, the tests are proceeding. | ||
