The one period which can be picked out on the standard 25HP. exhaust system, and which was demonstrated to us on a Test Chassis occurs at 27.28 M.P.H. We have been aware of its existence since this type of silencer was adopted on the 20/25 car but we do not think it is sufficiently bad to warrant any special action. Very many cars have been turned out like it and it is only now that it has been discovered. We have not heard of a customers complaint and hardly anticipate any. The boom certainly is more prominent on some cars than others and is always worse cold than hot. There is no reason what-ever for the trouble becoming worse on recent cars. We do not know how to improve the existing silencer and do not contemplate investigations on these lines in view of the existence of the new resonant silencer which is better in this respect and is interchangeable with the existing one. We are preparing a resonant silencer for Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}'s car 17.G.IV. and shall be in a position to fit it up early next week. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lid.{A. J.
