Dear Nicholls,

I am sending you under separate cover, Speedometer Z.183, off our chassis 3.B.50.

As you will see, the trip on the speedometer has again failed through teeth breaking off. We have also had a failure on the trip to operate, due to the adjusting spindle being strained by the driver's knee.

We consider that the flexible shaft, by means of which the trip is adjusted, is too rigid and should be modified to avoid the trouble.

You will appreciate that we are getting very tired of these continual trip failures and I think that in justice to yourselves you should let us have half a dozen "80" instruments which are as good as you know how to make them. We will then substitute these for the ones we are at present running.

We could return the redundant instruments to you for bringing up to date if you so wish.

We are sending you a separate report on the noisy drives.

Yours sincerely,
