ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. INSTRUCTIONS. To Order No. Customer's No. ? it would take about 8.5 ft of 30 S.W.G. to give the same resistance. The maximum current is slightly over .5 ampere, so that the heat dissipated is not more than about 5.0 watts, the volt drop in the wire being about 9.0. The resistance was arranged on a controller made from cut-out parts which was set to operate at 15.0 volts cold on charge. On open circuit the operation was at a lower voltage as indicated by a voltmeter owing to voltage undulations which the instrument does not show. With an open circuit, on exceeding the operating voltage for the controller, the armature carrying the contacts commenced vibrating, making two or (Cont-d) Signed This Sheet must be filed on completion of the work.
