X. 8420 To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to BJ. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/M19.2.27. PHANTOM - FRONT AXLE & BRAKES. Herewith we send N.sch. 2367 shewing a pull-off spring increasing the (calculated) load in the cables from 11 lbs. to 15 lbs. We cannot find by reference that the existing pull-off springs on the new axle are less than those on the original one, but there may be something we don't know. We suggest that the stress of 88,500 lbs. per sq. in. is not unreasonable, being bending stress, compared with the limit of 80,000 lbs/sq. in. in torsion. Will BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} please send us an extra print for R? DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
