Many thanks for your reports, together with photographs of the tyres. The information on the front end silence of the Cadillac compared with the 20/25 was of considerable interest. We shall of course have to continue running the Cadillac in order to obtain information about the chain drive, silent tappets etc. for the Wraith. You will probably arrange with Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} how to get the necessary parts made if you cannot obtain spares. I am not quite clear whether now that you have cleaned out the silent tappets on the Cadillac they are again perfectly satisfactory. We shall be glad to have your confirmation on this. We note what you say about the steering ratio on 21-G-IV. We have a lower ratio instructed which we think should give better results. The oil consumption on 21-G-IV is rather unfortunate. Can you possibly find out how much is going through the back bearing and how much oil is passing the pistons ? We expect the oil passing the pistons to get progressively less as the car run further, because the pistons that we put in this engine were fitted at the last moment and had had no running in at all.
