To EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} from EFC. c. Ey c. De. <802 EFC1/T18.6.21. X.277Sc - WIRING CONNECTIONS TO BATTERY. <802 On two cars with private bodies in the Test Dept. we have to-day noticed that the cable connections to the battery are, in our opinion, badly carried out. In both instances, one worse than the other, the cables pass through a hole provided for them in the Coachbuilder's sheathing in such a manner that one would expect them to chafe rather badly on the sharp corners of this sheathing. We take the trouble in bringing the cables out through the undershield to provide beaded edges, which trouble is to a large extent nullified by the Coachbuilders' work, and we think this ought to be looked into. Another point is that the correct way of taking the cables to the battery is to divide them into the two positives, heavy and light, on the one hand, and the two negatives, heavy and light, on the other hand, and take these two pairs into the battery box at opposite ends of the battery corresponding to the terminals. The point is that no straggling cables should be allowed inside the top of the battery box, except the 1" or 1 1/4" necessary to reach the terminals. What little slack is found necessary in the cables should be provided outside the box and not inside - it looks very bad for the cables to be | ||
