TESTS OF GIVEN STARTER MOTOR. X.543.

Quantities:-
Volts. Amps. Speed. Torque.
E.H.P. B.H.P.
Efficiency.

(1) Brake Test. Run motor loaded by means of variable brake with terminal supply in accordance with
V = 12.00 - .02C
(e.g. at 100 amperes, 10 volts)
Thus find variation with torque as independent variable of amperes (and volts) and speed. Record results on Form 1.

Plot torque and speed (not for permanent reference) on an ampere base and obtain smooth curves. From smooth curves complete Form 2 of smoothed and derived results, and plot these on the standard brake test results form.
Complete Form 3 of determination of Φr ΦE.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}

(2) Flux test of unloaded armature. Run motor as separately excited dynamo on open circuit with two narrow brushes in their exact neutral positions, adjusting the speed for each value of the exciting current to approximately the speed observed on the brake test for that value of the main current. Complete that portion of Form 4 which concerns this test, and so determine Φe.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}

(3) Static torque test. Obtain the static torque test of the motor in normal condition for various values of the main current, eliminating torque losses arising from hysteresis
