SPECTRECodename for Phantom III (1st PRODUCTION).

We are returning this unit to be dismantled and inspected and the following jobs carried out:-

(1) Engine tightening up at high speeds and suspect the lead bronze big end bearings (Please measure bearing clearances before any decision is made)

(2) Pressure feed and adaptor to dynamo pinion bush required.

(3) Engine gears whine and fan pulley rubbing.

(4) Distributors misfiring at high speeds. Contact breaker springs appear weak, check to Drg. D.75146. The load on the spring pads should be 1 1/2 lbs.

(5) Worm and wheel adjustment of throttles on B. side incorrectly positioned for synchronised setting.

(6) Camshaft to have the modification Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1768 which is an extra keyway to give selective timing.

(7) The oil pump to LcC.4400 gives excessive pressure at high speeds as this engine has the original type of relief valve. We have interchanged this pump for one of the original type LcP.E.84791 which is satisfactory.
The large pump LcC.4400 is only intended to be fitted in conjunction with the latest relief valve LcC.4385.

(8) Over-oiling at low speeds past pistons. Check rings and piston and bore sizes. Piston knocks when cold.

(9) Rocker cover screws very tight. Oil pipe nuts to relief valve unions very tight on threads. Push rods very close to heads check to be clear of rubbing. Water leaks from union nuts on oil cooler matrix case.

(10) Insufficient oil supply to tappet plungers. Modify metering screws E.86886 to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1979.

Parts missing.
High and low tension wires from coils to distributor.
Petrol Pipe adaptor union.
Thermostats. Starter motor.
Air intake silencer & breather pipes.
