To CJ. from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to BJ. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X. 5430 R8/M13.10.25. STEERING - GOSHAWK - DAMPED PENDULUM LEVER. Mr. Hardy is just completing a design for large worm outside pendulum lever type for this, to bring it in line with the Phantom. The damped pendulum lever is not to be dropped, but to be arranged in a more efficient position. It is correct in principle, and should do something towards perfecting the steering, which, with all things considered, it is a very difficult problem. We do not intend to use abnormally weak springs in the longitudinal tube. The Hispano has gone further than we should wish to go. | ||
