I do not think I let you have a copy of a report I made out recently entitled "The Functioning of the Dynamo-Battery Combination of a Chassis Electrical System". This will be of interest to yourself, but as it is really an internal report, it is naturally not for general circulation. You will see from this that I had previously put the matter in front of Mr. Royce. I am also sending you a modification of a portion of this report which I have arranged for the use of our own people who have to do with the electrical system.

In regard to preparing a dynamo for you with exaggeratedly reduced output, since you think running on five cells is about right, we shall observe the volt-ampere characteristics of the standard dynamo running on the standard electrical system, but with four cells only and the output curve thereof, and then adjust the dynamo which we shall send you to give a similar output curve when working on six cells. In this way the charging current will be still less than you have experienced running on five cells, but owing to the effect of the leads, the proportion will not be quite as widely to the extent of the ratios of 4 : 5 : 6. I should think we may be able to let you have this machine about the beginning of next month.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
