rubbing. The condition of this cone clearly shows all the bedding to be on the forward edge, a fault which we have invariably found during our previous tests at Shardlow.

The splines have been trimmed up and made to work freely. We have also scraped the brass from the steel cone, and have carefully lapped the two cones together. A 75% bedding has been obtained, which we consider satisfactory for further running.
