re BENTLEY QUARTERLY COMPLAINTS, ref. Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}2/HR.211.34
-------------------------------------

In dealing with the above there are one or two features which should be considered, and it rather surprises me there are no definite customers' complaints, since in the handling of chassis and complete cars delivered from customers, these points have given trouble and in some cases caused a certain annoyance to customers.

1. Carburetters flooding.- This seems to be rather common at present on new cars in customers' hands, and was recently confirmed in a report from H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints}, and is one which you point out you appreciate and is having your attention.

2. Oil Leaks from the Bijur Filler Cap.

3. Brake Squeaks.-This feature is more noticeable when first using after the car has been standing for some time.

4. Engine Thrash.-i.e. on forward drive at 2,000 R.P.M. upwards, as previously demonstrated. I am hoping that the "Aerolite" pistons will improve this, as I feel sure the noise emanates from the pistons.

5. Front Wing and Lamps dithering.

6. Whistle from the engine.

7. Side Lever Vibration.

Although the report points out these require "investigation by the Experimental Department" it is rather surprising, from what we have heard and seen, that there is only one complaint during the last quarter.
