General report on a vehicle's performance after completing 3463 miles.

be no worse than the existing 20/25 however.

The car generally is a delight to drive. The power unit has behaved faultlessly, the suspension is a good compromise, and the brakes have been progressive and effective. The petrol consumption can undoubtedly be improved, little work as yet having been carried out on the carburetters with a view to economy.

GENERAL REPORT AFTER 3463 MILES.

ENGINE.

Tappet clearances O.K. - none varied more than .001"
No sign of whitemetal on the bottom half.
No split pins missing or big end bolts slack.
Bad oil leak for appearance from tappet cover, but oil consumption not excessive (1000 m.p.g.)
Bad timing gear rattles, tappets noisy warming up.
Flywheel period 2500 - 3000 m.p.h. worse under load, worst feature of the car.
No crankshaft periods. No piston knocks.
Petrol consumption 13.7 m.p.g.
Oil temperature just passable for summer conditions. Should not exceed 100°C, atmosphere 30°C.

RADIATOR.

Adequate for high speed, cooling with louvred bonnet and small fan. No leaks. Movement rather excessive.
Bonnet knock evident on bad road but not exceptionally noticeable.

FRONT AXLE.

Leaks round bottom of cover of axle pivot owing to 2 bolt cover. This was reported on Peregrine eighteen months ago, and should be altered to 4 bolts.
Insufficient lubrication to N.S. axle control ball pad.
Bijur size increased to S.3. This was found O.K. on Peregrine.

SHOCK DAMPERS.

No leak. No noise. Tight on frame. Efficiency maintained.

CLUTCH.

Smooth engagement. Damped drive in the clutch satisfactory
