Dear Sirs, We have today despatched to you by parcel post two pistons. One of these is to the original dimensions and seized up after running for a short time, the other was altered by hand filing and has completed 21 hours endurance running. You will observe that there is a slight crack emanating from one of the holes at the top of the skirt. We have carefully examined all the pistons after the 21 hours endurance running, the defect mentioned being the only one we have been able to locate. We are sending you the dimensions to which we endeavoured to hand bed these pistons. We are also sending you six gudgeon pins * as requested; this leaves us without a spare in case of failure. We confirm that you will send us a set of scraper rings having increased bearing area on the lands so as to increase the oil consumption and ensure that the pistons will not run quite so dry. We thank you for the prompt way in which you have dealt with this matter.
