We will forward them on to you as soon as possible. BRAKES. With regard to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 21/KW memo. 14/11/35. We made no statement of pedal pressure and we have not a person here who could apply the load on the foot pedal to the same extent as Martindale. We do not wish to start a controvecy, as the fault was found to be entirely different to that first assumed. We do however disagree with his remarks that, with our scheme of water excluder on the Bell Crank, we have increased the bearing pressure which has already caused indents on the spindle. The indents caused by the bearings in the soft spindle is not, in our opinion, through bearing pressure, but due to chattering when not on load caused by movement of the Axle etc., We should, had they been obtainable, fitted olite bushes but not having the required article, produced the best scheme we could. If our effort was not satisfactory in the opinion of the Design department, then it is up to that department to make the job satisfactory. -------- G.W.H.Hancock. G.W.H. | ||
