STATION - KINGSWOOD, S.E. & C.RY. TELEPHONE - BURGH HEATH 344. TELEGRAMS - OAKROYD, TADWORTH. OAK ROYD, KINGSWOOD, TADWORTH, SURREY. is cooled right down unnecessarily. Here is an arrangement whereby the shutters shut when the engine stops. from jackets to Radiator to Shutter A is a light hollow bronze ball, just heavier than its volume of water, lying in the shallow dish B. When there is no water current the ball rolls to the bottom & closes the orifice from the jackets thus bottling up the hottest water. The thermostat C operating the shutters is surrounded by water at "circulation" temperature & its casing D is covered with cooling fins so as to ensure prompt closing of the shutter. When the engine starts the ball is displaced and all should be serene. RECEIVED Hr 17 APR 1929 | ||
