re. 34-GN. Fairey.

We give below extract of letter which we have received from Mr. Fairey upon which we shall be glad to have your comments.

The car is going to 'N' probably on Monday May 26th. for the fitting of a new increased output dynamo, and for various small matters to have attention.

"I would like at some convenient opportunity one of your experts' opinions on the back springs. They are certainly soft and very comfortable and travel very well at high speeds except that they are liable to pump taking large hollows or bumps in the road at speed. The type of ridges or holles one usually meets on English or Scottish roads which are invisible until within 40 or 50 yards have sometimes given the car quite serious bumps on the back springs and it appears to be lack of rebound absorption rather than to direct springing and I have not noticed it previously driving the car with only two up.

Under the conditions of the tour, I had two in the back seats, full petrol and one suit case on the carrier with the result that there would be considerably more weight aft than I have used previously, and I learned from experience that I had to take ridges and hollows with considerably more care than I had expected to have to do."
