X8900 CWB11/DN24.2.26. TO Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM CWB I enclose here-with further reports of the running of 11-EX which has now completed 9,800 miles. You will note on day 52 that PN{Mr Northey} had a high speed steering wobble which may have been contributed to by a very low pressure in the nearside front tyre and by the difference in pressure between the two front tyres. Does a difference in pressure between the two front tyres tend to aggravate the wobble conditions? You will see also on day 53, PN{Mr Northey} reports that the steering tends to wander and also makes the car unstable on side of road. I found that the car was very difficult indeed to hold on a straight line when travelling on the side of a high cambered road. Do you attribute this to the absence of toe-in, as I understand that the front wheels of this car are set parallel? If this is the cause and there are no grave objections to a little toe-in, (from other points of view, I understand that a slight toe-in makes practically no difference to the wobble conditions,) it would seem advisable to have a little.
