W/S PN.{Mr Northey} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X.2.28 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}8/LG30.1.23. NOISY CARBURETTERS ON 20 H.P. Luzzy We are carrying out a full series of tests in connection with this. We have two objects in view. One is to set a certain standard for the carburetter noise on 20 HP. cars and the other is to still further reduce the noise on future cars. If you test a 40/50 car critically, you will find that there is a considerable amount of noise comes from the carburetter but owing to the fact that it is rather a soothing noise, it is seldom noticed. In making our tests we revolve the engine by an electric motor so that the noise from the carburetter is practically the only noise we have to deal with. We feel quite confident that we shall be able to improve the 20 H.P. cars as regards carburetter noise. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
