-4- development:- (1) A form of venturi has been obtained which will deal with more fuel than we are likely to encounter in the volute. (2) Taking the feed from the bottom of the volute appears quite satisfactory. (3) First tests shew that with this scheme in operation we can 'open up' after ticking over with a cold engine without 'choking' or 'missing fire'. The remaining problem is:- (1) to select the best place on the induction system to lead the fuel. We should therefore recommend that all supercharger casings which are being built should be drilled to take the drain pipes. Until the complete scheme is ready the drain passage could be blanked. We also suggest that a design should be prepared for a venturi of the form shewn on our print and that the unit should be carried below the base of the volute - perhaps the side of the carburetter bottom half. We do not suggest any departure from the form or proportions of the venturi shewn, but suggest we try an experimental scheme in which, instead of holes, we have an annular space inclined about 30° to the venturi axis. (See sketch) This form would be perhaps less liable to stoppage through dirt. Ha/ACL. | ||
