X.4414P - PETO & RADFORD FOR GOSHAWK

Further to our EFC2/T25.7.22, we have this morning received a letter from Messrs. P & R with reference to the three experimental batteries they are making for us for the Goshawk.

They wish particularly to remind us that these three batteries are in every respect representative of those they would supply as standard, except that these three batteries will be supplied with ebonite boxes in place of Dagenite, it being impossible to have Dagenite boxes for these three. All further batteries which they would supply to our order would have the Dagenite cell boxes. They are 99% confident that no leaks will develop even though these experimental batteries have ebonite cell boxes. They wish us to bear in mind that should this contingency occur by any remote chance, this should not be considered as a point against the production article as Dagenite cells cannot crack.

They state that they hope to be able to deliver these batteries, fully charged, by the middle of August and trust this will be in time for our requirements. They further say that in their opinion these batteries are now large enough for our purpose from capacity and output point of view.
