EFC Will you please arrange to have these fitted. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X7680 BY/EM7/J.26.10.29. DISTRIBUTOR CAMS - D.50710. We are handing to you herewith six of the above distributor cams, which have been specially hardened for us by a new process of work hardening known as the 'cloud-burst' process. The makers' claim that by their process they have increased the surface hardness of these parts from a brinell hardness of approximately 700. to 1050. This part is one which causes considerable trouble in the Works, as unless they are really hard rapid wear takes place on the corners of the cams. It therefore, appears to us that if this process is what the makers' claim for it, it might have an application for these parts and also for other parts where extra hardness is required. We shall be glad if you will have these cams fitted to Experimental Chassis, and let us have a report with respect to same at your earliest convenience. We also propose to have a set of 'F' Tappet Levers hardened in the same manner and these we will also hand over to you as soon as possible. BY [Signature] | ||
