Basil Johnson Esq.
Managing Director,
Messrs. Rolls Royce Limited,
14-15 Conduit Street, W.1.

Dear Mr.Johnson:

With reference to the conference I attended at your office yesterday and the decisions reached.

I have been thinking over the proposed further trials of Rapson Tyres by Messrs. Rolls Royce and it seems to me that in view of your experiments and desire to change over to a low or medium pressure tyre as soon as you are satisfied with the same, it is really not much use testing something which may well become obsolete within the next few months/.

I would rather, with your kind permission, hurry forward the new type of Rapson tyre we discussed and see how far this goes to help eliminate those difficulties of which you told me. I am quietly confident that the North British Rapson Tyre I shall submit will not only meet with your requirements, but ensure your users receiving at least a superior mileage to other makes, as my tyres gave during your trials on the 20 h.p. model.

With regard to balance, which we agreed was the most important feature of all; you can accept my assurance that the new tyre will incorporate features which will ensure every car being absolutely perfect in this respect and this, without having to mess about with the balance weights provided on the existing wheels.

Our new PhantomCodename for PHANTOM I Rolls Royce has just been delivered and it does seem to be a really wonderful job. One of the motor journals has asked me to write up my experiences when I have completed the first five thousand miles. If I feel then as I do to-day, I do not think you will be annoyed with my efforts.

With kind regards,
I beg to remain,
Very sincerely yours.
(Sgd) F.Lionel Rapson. Governing Director
RAPSON TYRE & JACK CO. LTD.

PS. Mr.Rapson dictated this letter over the telephone, so was unable to sign the same.
