order of difference. It will be noted that the friction in the front Springs is in the same order in both makes, although of a smaller nature than in the rear Springs.

In view of these results, we should like to have your guidance as to which direction it is desirable for us to modify our Springs, i.e., whether to obtain more friction or less. On the other hand, might we suggest that it may be advisable for us to return the Springs in exactly the condition they are for you to mount them on identical Chassis, and allow us to witness actual trials on the road. We would also inform you that Mr Stansfield, our designer, has today commenced his annual holidays, so unfortunately the matter cannot be taken much further until his return in a fortnight's time.
