To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from BJ. f4432 BJ22/H23.9.24. WEAR ON 40/50 H.P. VALVE GUIDES. On the 14th April 1924, at a conference at Derby, you raised the question as to whether we should make the present chassis as up to date as possible by the adoption of the new valve covers which are to be introduced by Springfield. It was thought that Springfield should be asked to send us a chassis fitted with this improvement. On the 17th May 1924, you wrote to me stating that if the administration agreed that this job can be done at Derby, you were sure you could get it through quicker than awaiting receipt of parts from America. On the 27th May this was authorised in BJ11/H27524. On the 13th June, BY26/H18.6.24 reported that you were going ahead at Derby with this scheme. Please let us know the position now. B.J.
