SpectreCodename for Phantom III Gearbox.

N. Sch.4531 herewith shows the rubber support for the rear of the gearbox to be instructed for the next 8 chassis.

The main object of this scheme is to obtainbthe reduction of cost given by moulding the rubber to the adjacent pieces without other attachment, but unlike the experimental rubbers shown by N. Sch.4463, no change is made in the flexibility of the rubber and, therefore, there is no risk of excessive flexibility as may prove to exist with the latter scheme.

The metal lip to support the box in the event of failure of the rubber is retained. This lip is a separate piece to facilitate moulding the rubber which must not be attached to the lip.

The housing is secured to the frame by three .250 studs instead of the present six .250 bolts, as the duty of this support is very light.

By this change the bolt retaining plate is avoided and the housing can be lightened.

N.Sch.4531 herewith.
