To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from E/JNR.{Charles L. Jenner} SECRET. E/JNR.{Charles L. Jenner}1/HP.18.3.35.

-------------------------------------------------------------

SpectreCodename for Phantom III - Slipper Flywheel.

---------------------------

Please receive herewith:-

LeC.4419 showing a temporary scheme for increasing the inertia of the crankshaft slipper flywheel.

It will be noticed that we have increased the inertia from 150 lbs/ins2 to 250 lbs/ins2. This is the maximum size that we can deal with should it be found necessary.

As you are aware the flywheels cannot be increased in size on the present engine without a major alteration to the crankcase, and a re-arrangement of the idler wheel.

The wheelcase on the drawing is bored out which means that you will have to scrap a wheelcase for this experiment.

Will you please instruct RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}
