Contd. -2- EFC4/T16.9.27. (6a) Are the connections to the switch X terminals Nos. 1,2, & 6 and the connections to the ammeter terminals electrically efficient ? (1) Is the main dynamo fuse No.1 making efficient electrical contact, both under the heads of the screws which secure the fuse wire and at the clips into which the fuse holder is placed ? (2) Is the field fuse No.2 intact, in good condition, and making good electrical contact in the clips ? Has it been necessary to replace this fuse at all, and if so, has this been the cause frequently ? (3) Is the main emergency battery fuse No.8 making efficient electrical contact under the screw heads ? Is it properly intact and are there any signs of heating ? (4) Are the cable connections to fuses Nos. 1, 2 and 8 properly tight and making efficient electrical connection? Also the two connections to the top side of No.6 ? (5) Are the contacts of the cutout making efficient and clean electrical contact with a rubbing motion of the top contact when the lever is depressed by hand ? This can be done when the charging switch is 'off'. In particular, when the lever is pressed down, is contact only just being made, or not being made properly at all ? (6) Is the connection of the dynamo wire to the fixed contact support of the cutout, tight and making efficient electrical connection ? Are there any signs of overheating anywhere on the cutout? Is the earthing bolt earthing efficiently? (7) Are the flexible connections to the moving lever of the cutout in O.K. condition ? (8) Are the cable connections to the battery and also the connecting links from cell to cell in good order and making effective contact ? Do they appear as if the nuts and links of the battery ought to be removed, cleaned, and replaced ? Is there possibly a broken lug in the battery due to careless screwing up of these nuts ? Does the starter function satisfactorily? (9) Is the earthing connection of the battery to the frame satisfactory ? (10) Is the electrolyte in the battery maintained to proper level ? (11) When the dynamo is charging the battery at the maximum rate with no lighting load on the system, does the ampere output, as indicated by the ammeter, appear to be excessive, e.g. is it more than 15 when things are cold, and more than 12 when things are fully hot?
