To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} From G.W.H. Hotel de France. Chateauroux. Indre. 11.6.33. YJ5949 18. G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} IV. RE OIL LEAK FROM PIVOT BEARING We have tackled this job in the following manner. The capacity chamber at the bottom of the pivot pin has been filled as much as possible with cork. The capacity and air compression chamber fitted on the axle has been deleted, sketches show how this has been carried out. These two features were fitted when the axle was hand oiled with the object of retaining a supply afterwards. With the fitting of the chassis lubrication with a foot pump we are of the opinion that the extra oil is not needed, and by deleting it most probably will do away with the amount of oil draining down the outside of the pivot bush. We are first trying this scheme on the near side pivot only. G.W.H. Hancock G.W.H. | ||
