To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 8/KT. 20.7.33. S.U. CARBURETTER CONTROLS. We have quarrelled with the amount of slack in the S.U. mixture controls. This is S.U.'s suggestion for increasing the bearing area of the pin under the jet needle. This does not seem to be of much use as they have left the hinge pin much as previously. We think the trouble is a matter of workmanship as there are a number of pin joints in our system which have no bigger area and have the same work to do. While discussing the question of mixture controls, we should like to confirm that the mixture control lever at the top of the column is affected by the throttle hand control, as previously mentioned to you on the telephone.
