List of failures and troubles observed on a vehicle up to a mileage of 9,500.

We have had the following failures and troubles during the mileage of 9,500.

(1) Exhaust manifold cracked between the centre and rear ports at a mileage of 8,800.

(2) Fan belt broke at a mileage of 8,800.

(3) Bijur Failures.
Pipe supplying front axle broke at end of coil situated in rear shackle pin of front N.S. spring.
Both Bibston O.S. steering arm broke close to banjo fitting.
Rear pipe feeding N.S. rear spring shackle chafed through having come in contact with distance piece of gusset stay plate.
Rear pipe feeding O.S. rear spring shackle dried up without any apparent cause, from the last junction.

(4) Air valve in carburetter stuck up at top of piston.

(5) Torque reaction dampers knocked.

(6) Exhaust valves lost their clearance.

(7) Oil pressure failed through release valve sticking in the guide.

(8) Exhaust manifold holding down nuts of the centre port, came loose after each day's run due to the stretching of the bolts.

(9) K.L.G. Ignition plug failed through metal ring at bottom of insulation falling off and shorting points.

(10) Water temperature increased to boiling point during 4 M.P.H. slow running in half a mile, also when idling, due to the water pump not circulating the water sufficiently at the low speeds.

(11) Clutch slipped through oil getting on to the clutch fabrics from the automatic supply to the clutch spigot.

(12) Rear brakes groan.

(13) Radiator support bakelite pad on S.S. broke in two letting radiator drop on to cross member, this caused the shutters to bind on the starting handle and not close.

(14) Radiator support stay lug on inlet pipe became loose.

(15) Poundage of cross steering tube will not remain consistent at 10 lbs, which causes increased joggles of the steering wheel.

(16) Dynamo failed to keep charge in battery, with the lighting, coil, and starting, drainage of 12 amps for 6 hours.

(17) Electric clock stopped after 6,500 miles.
