X-1278 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Std.8/JH. 21st, September, 1936. The Modine Manufacturing Co., Rancine, Wisconsin, U.S.A. For the attention of Mr. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Thoen. Dear Sirs, Mr. R.W. Harvey Bailey has passed on to us (R.R. Experimental Dept.) your letter of August 28th, offering any assistance which we may require with our cooling problems. We thank you for this offer and would mention that Mr. Dunn of Messrs. John Marston Ltd., of Wolverhampton, England, (who manufacture our radiator matrices and oil coolers), will be in America for the next six weeks or so, and will be calling on you. We should like you to give him any information or advise which you can, our own particular problem being that of adequately cooling our 40/50 HP car (maximum BHP approximately 185 HP) with a radiator matrix of frontal area 4.18 square feet, while keeping the weights of the radiator to a minimum. We should like to have any test figures etc. which you can give us, comparing your best radiator core with the Harrison 'V' latest type of core (this is the type core which we use at present) for cores of approximately 2" and 3.3" depth. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
