With reference to testing the 14-tooth axle at Brooklands it seems very desirable that we should push ahead with this test as soon as possible, as if the experiments show that the petrol consumption is not much more than with the 15-tooth axle, and if there is not much loss of high speed, the 14-tooth axles should have many advantages, especially for closed cars in hilly districts.

At present we only have Mr. Royce's permission to fit 14-tooth axles on heavy closed bodies, and as we know so little about the results of using the 14-tooth, we want to get these tests made as soon as possible.

I shall be glad to hear when you expect to be able to carry these out.
