X7460. To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}4/KT. 24.8.32. c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} 19-EX. PETROL PUMP. We have dismantled the cam wheel to examine the condition of the tappet lever of the petrol pump. We find that slight wear had taken place on the face of the pad of the tappet lever L.82615. This was the width of the cam and .0025" in depth. The material is S/ZN, Brinell hardness 451. A serious feature was the wear of the 1/16" split pin fitted in the 3/16" pin of the push rod. The head of the split pin was almost cut through. The cause of this was due to the slackness of the split pin in the hole, allowing it to vibrate and cause wear. The split pin should be a driving fit. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/G.W.H. | ||
