MYTH INSTRUMENT BOARD.
--------------------

Replying to your memo Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/JH.5.3.41, drawing RB.{R. Bowen}13004 was made so that sufficient information could be supplied to the model maker to enable him to fit a board and panel to the model that would give the impression of what we propose fitting, and so that a coloured sketch could be made to get a better idea of the layout.

Dealing with the points enumerated:-

1 - The tool drawer is intended to be forward of the facia board and probably to have its rear edge covered in leather to match the seating leather, and will be forward enough to be unnoticeable.

2 - The shape of the capping round the screen wiper knobs will be un-changed from the normal section.

3 - More detail can be supplied regarding the shape of the capping covering the screen regulator, as the design of the regulator has been settled since RB.{R. Bowen}13004 was drawn, the only change in section at this point will be a slight swell on the front edge of the capping, which will hardly be noticeable.

4 - An ash tray is shewn on the off side to balance the layout, and in our opinion, could be used by the driver easier than that on the near side.
The type of ash tray is a matter of opinion. The one shewn is of the large sliding tubular type, which we considered the most suitable shape for the general layout.

5 - Agreed the cubby hole on the right hand side is not an ideal shape, but not unusual and we consider that, in addition to providing as much space as possible for papers etc., the appearance would be lighter than if squared up as suggested. This applies also to the left hand side.
The finish of the edges of the cubby hole is rounded and shows a small raised beading on the face of the board.

6 - The lighting of the instruments as shewn may not be ideal, but we understood that, when the instruments to be used have been decided, Messrs. Smith & Sons would be given a drawing shewing the layout required and asked to submit a scheme or sample panel with the lighting they considered to be satisfactory.
