experience in the Fen country, secondly, the reduction in the
lateral flexibility of the rear springs, thirdly, the increased
stiffness of the rear springs, so as to prevent a top-heavy
car rolling about through falling in the pot holes which exist
alternately on the side of the road, increased rigidity in the
longitudinal steering tube and the introduction of a small
amount of friction in some part of the steering system to damp
the freedom of the control: this latter feature may be a decided
disadvantage but it is worth experimenting for the sake of pro-
viding all the possible modifications.
