Contd. -2- (3) Hot air taken through one exhaust box to the low speed jet alone has been tried by Mr. Hives during his visit. The effect, when a cold induction pipe was used, was not marked. Exhaust heat to the throttle was tried also, and was not in itself a solution of the difficulty. (4) The choker scheme has been tried on 4.EX with great success, and reported on in our letter of March 3 on "Ease of Starting". A sketch has also been sent to Mr. Hives of this device. The car with the choker can be started by hand with the greatest ease on a cold morning after a zero night, by simply filling with fairly warm water and notching the engine over 3 or 4 times.
