With reference to D/BP30/CW12.4.20. copy of which was sent to you, the question of the type of springs to be sent as spares is a point upon which some instructions are required from the D.O., especially in view of Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}'s recommendations that the present rear springs are not satisfactory, and that we should as soon as possible revert to the old type.

The question of suitable springs, therefore is one which will require very serious consideration. Meantime, therefore, we should act sparingly as regards spares, but should press for some settlement of policy to be adopted re. supplying of springs to replace any present faulty ones. Similar action should also be taken with regards to the supplying of springs to various Depots as stock.
