1381. RmS/R.31.3.38 The following decisions were come to at the Chassis Conference on Test Bed work :- (1) Continental Bentley should have jets on the exhaust valve seats. (2) CIS. to urge a set of Phosphor Chrome Short Inserts for CG's car. (3) B.60 would go to France with two rods having the oil holes plugged up on the stem. (4) The effect of jets on exhaust valve seats would be checked on running after switching off. (5) Engine economies. We should try Vandervell big-ends. We should also like to go into the question of obtaining a crankshaft with the working surfaces only machined, i.e., the webs as forged and the shafts then dynamically balanced. (6) We should continue to press H.P.S. to give disc oilers. (7) S.d.L. should investigate the loss of oil pressure when hot, on 29.G. (8) We should get a comparison of the heat to oil of aerolite and split skirt pistons. (9) We regard the Duplex Stromberg Induction System to be one of the most improved experiments. (10) Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} agreed to have the vacuum ignition fixed up on 25.G. | ||
