-2- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.4/KW.27.6.34. The A.T. speedometer, although it is constructed for maximum reliability, is the worst instrument we know of for magnetic interference with other electrical instruments in close proximity, such as the petrol gauge and ammeter, and we feel that we must be definitely insistent upon not accepting any new design of instrument from the A.T. Speedometer Co. unless its degree of magnetic interference is at least commensurate with other cheaper constructed instruments such as the A.C. and the Smith. Unless we do this the scope of our designs for different instrument layouts will always be obstructed. As reported in our Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.11/MA.22.6.34, we have informed the A.T. Co. of our views in this matter. If we can obtain the lightened instrument with less magnetic interference we shall proceed to test the same with a view to standardisation entirely independent of any illumination schemes.
