GOSHAWK SIDE LEVERS. We are now so far advanced with the design that we can supply drawings of the position of the change speed levers for both B. and D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} type steering. We are pleased to say that we believe we have arranged these quite satisfactorily without causing any change to the shape of the bodies already standardised, that is, the B. type seems quite suitable for the seating, body and scuttle shape adopted in the standard Hooper limousine, and in the case of the D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} type it seems quite suitable for the 4-G-11 Hooper open car. These we believe are as narrow as any we are likely to construct. We have managed this without the complication to the change gear mechanism adopted by some of the firms in similar cases, there being a certain amount of difficulty arising because the gear box is much further forward relatively on this chassis than on the 40/50 chassis. While the work is going through we think it will be as well if Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} will arrange some temporary levers on each type of car which he has at the Works to prove whether the positions we have adopted will be satisfactory. The time it will take to put this modification into production depends upon the Works. It will need a new gearbox pattern but the rest of the mechanism should not cause much delay. The internal work of the gearbox has not serious modification outside the sliders. contd:- | ||
