For the attention of F.J. Hardy, Esq., Experimental Department.

Dear Sirs,

We are in receipt of your letter of the 14th instant, reference as above, and, as requested therein, as soon as we possibly can, we will investigate your requirements in our Designs Department, and write you.

Meanwhile, we are wondering whether you would be prepared to consider our Standard '510' Gear in regard to size and in some respects to detail. This is slightly bigger than the Gear you are at present experimenting with, being 1.11/16" instead of 1½" from the centre line of the Rocker Shaft to the Pitch diameter of the cam.

You will, of course, appreciate that there are considerable advantages in using our standards, and we, therefore, enclose herewith a General Arrangement drawing of our Standard Gear, GA.3290.

You will note that ball bearings are provided at the ends of the Cam, these being standard with us and very satisfactory. If you are not prepared to agree to ball bearings the cam could be modified to incorporate roller bearings, though this, of course, will be departing from the standard. The hole through the cam is 1⅛" in diameter, the same as the Gear
