Dear Sirs, Further to our letter of the 3rd inst. we have pleasure in quoting you as follows:- XX.Grade Bakelite-Dilecto Tube, in either Black or Natural colour, 7/8" i.d. by 1.075 o.d., 20-1/4" long. Price........ 3/3d. per ft. Plus 10% for cutting to exact length. Terms nett cash 30 days from date of invoice. Delivery free on orders of £10 nett value & upwards. We do not make a practice of machining Bakelite, but will always cut tubes and rods to exact length, or saw sheets to size. We also cut Bakelised Canvas Sheets into gear blanks if required. Our customers appear to like us to do this rather than buy the sheets and cut them themselves, possibly because, although this material can be cut on an ordinary band saw, the saw requires very frequent sharpening. Some pieces of Bakelised Canvas, or Continental Bakelite have been sent you, and we should be much obliged if you would experiment with this. We have supplied one of the leading manufacturers of internal combustion Marine Engines with gear blanks for timing gears for some years, and they have given every satisfaction. Of course, equal wear to a good metal gear cannot be guaranteed, but we do say that timing wheels made from this material will outwear any made of raw hide or fibre of any class.
