664. To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/NRC.{N. R. Chandler} ~~c.c. LA.{L. A. Archer}~~ ~~c.c. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager}~~ Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/NRC.{N. R. Chandler}7/MH.{M. Huckerby}28.3.38. RE SG{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'S CAR. Have just demonstrated to LA.{L. A. Archer} that the slight judder which can only be produced at very low RPM. is a function of the engine mounting and not the clutch. Procedure - Let car run on level at about 10 M.P.H. on top, Pull it down to 8 M.P.H. by the brakes on a slight gradient at the same time giving a little more gas, and the "judder" is there, complete with rattles, although the clutch is fully engaged. The same thing can be demonstrated by reversing up hill at 1 to 2 M.P.H. with clutch fully engaged, and with or without use of brakes. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/NRC.{N. R. Chandler} | ||
