CHICHESTER. 20th. August 1928. Messrs Hooper & Co. Ltd. 77 Kings Rd. Chelsea. S.W. ATTENTION OF Mr. T. CARPENTER. Dear Sirs, re. EXPERIMENTAL SEDANCA. This is to confirm our remarks to you during our recent visit to your Works. (1) The scuttle rail should be made to the enclosed drawing N. sch. 2682. Scuttle face stiffeners have been supplied to you from Derby, which we presume have been drilled to suit the scuttle semi-isolation bolts as dimensioned. (2) We agree to the following colour scheme:- SCUTTLE, BONNET, WINGS, & VALANCES - black cellulose. BODY PANELS - pastel blue, varnished oil paint. HEAD - above waistline black. UPHOLSTERY - enamelled hide throughout, Connelly's N.G. with head lining. INTERIOR FITTINGS - Italian walnut, dull finish, carpets to match. (3) WEIGHT. It is essential that this body be built as lightly as possible, full advantage being taken of the body subframe to enable you to do so. The complete coachwork should not weigh more than 8.5 cwts. With a view to reducing the weight we agree to not fit the arm rests to the rear seat. No edge plates should be used in the body, and all the 'ironing' should be done by light sheet metal gussets. Great care must be taken to so tie the corners of the windscreen pillars to prevent 'matchboxing'. The rear door aft pillars should be tied in by sheet metal to the seat heelboard. (1) | ||
