Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wst3/M 18th February, 1937. Messrs. Joseph Lucas Ltd., Great King Street, BIRMINGHAM. Dear Sirs, For the attention of Mr. W.E. Robinson. In accordance with arrangements made during the visit of the undersigned to your Works on Tuesday last, we are sending you under separate cover a dynamo, starter motor, switch box, cutout and regulator unit and instrument panel plates as used on our Bentley Chassis. We are also sending you drawings of these parts and of the fly-wheel gearing in order that you can complete your proposals for the starter motor. We should like you to give us the same external finish on the parts you supply to us as far as possible as those being sent to you for inspection. Will you please make an estimate as soon as possible of the approximate cost of these units to us based on quantities of 500 as we are anxious to ascertain this before proceeding much further. We regret we are unable to supply you with an estimate of the cost we should except you to give us but would rather you supplied these figures yourselves in the first instance. We could then further discuss the question of cost after we have examined your figures. We would like to say that these cost figures are rather urgently required. Yours faithfully, For ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
