MEETING NO: 17.

PROGRESS MEETING.

Minutes of a Meeting held on Thursday, Dec. 18th., at which Mr. Dailey, Mr. Platford, Mr. Day, Mr. Hives, Mr. Millis, Mr. Hargreaves and Dn. were present.

40/50 H.P. CHASSIS.

1. Pressure Feed Pump. - E.5205, Cylinder.

The Production Dept. proposed that the distance from the face of the flange to the inner edge of the inlet port should be altered from 1.050 +.15 to 1.025 +.5, and that the limit on width of port should be altered from +.15 to -.10, to give better delivery pressures on production pumps.
Mr. Platford reported that he was not experiencing any difficulty with pumps as manufactured at present, and it was therefore considered undesirable to incorporate this alteration.

2. Starting Handle. - E.2722, Shield.

The Production Dept. proposed to reduce the radius of the circular wall of metal next to the flange from 4.375 to 4.300, to give ample clearance for the .600 dia. spot face at the bolt holes, necessary to take the .550 dia. washers.
Note "Face .600 + .10 dia." should be added to the drawing. Existing dimensions allow of no latitude for oversize or distorted castings without cutting into this wall of metal.
It was pointed out, however, that the clearance over the pulley and belt is now fine and it was though undesirable to incorporate this alteration, which would reduce this clearance, without first making sure that difficulty would not be experienced through the variation of the bolts.
Mr. Platford and Mr. Hives will investigate this point.

3. Spring Drive. - E.2696, Case.

The Production Dept., with regard to the position of 8 .125 dia. oil holes, 4 on each side of friction faces, pointed out that their drawing shows the 4 inner holes drilled .075 from the inner face of friction disc, and the outer holes .175 from the corresponding outer face. The holes are being drilled in the works .075 from the face in each case, although up to the present it has been impossible to trace the authority for doing so. The Production Dept. therefore requested that confirmation should be given either for the works practice or for the drawing dimensions.
It was agreed that the drawing should be altered to conform
Contd.
