Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}5/T16.3.33.

We decided at our conference to-day that a really special effort should be made, and I have instructed, subject to your agreement, that we make a number of these silencers in the quickest possible way, regardless of cost, and further, to proceed with the tools for making it cheaply, as rapidly as possible.

However, there are some 20 Phantoms made beyond the 50th of 0.2 at the present time, and if you consider it of sufficient importance these could be fitted at some later date with new induction pipes and the new air silencer.

It should be pointed out that there will be a large number of induction pipes scrapped of the old type, because the new air silencer needs a new induction pipe. This would mean possibly a scrap of 80/90 present type induction pipes in various stages of manufacture, the cost of which I cannot give you at the present time but it is being prepared.

You will see from the foregoing, that I am making an effort to introduce this improvement on the 51st chassis of 0.2. Naturally if you say 'introduce it on the 75th chassis or thereabouts' it would relieve the position.

This improvement is not an easy job, there is quite a bit of tooling up to make it at a reasonable price, and any help you can give us would be really welcome and useful.

However, I fully realise all that Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} and yourself say regarding these improvements from a Sales point of view. I am confident that everybody concerned will face the difficulty in whatever way you decide.

In the meantime I have instructed as per this memo.
