W/S. to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} from Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} Copy to C.Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}E.BY.Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} De Hy{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer}5/T26.8.36. Martindale Brake Jaggers on Bentley. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}15/E25.8.36 Action has already been taken to provide six sets of bob weight balances for Kingsbury and six sets for the Repair Department at Derby, so that they may deal with urgent cases as they arise. As the stock of six sets is reduced they can be replenished by the Depots in a very short time, so that they shall always have sets of parts in stock. These advance sets will be constructed with Aluminium Bronze Castings. Bumper} Dies are now being sunk to produce the final design using steel parts, and it is our intention to put 200 sets in hand, so that they shall be ready at the earliest possible moment after receiving the final O.K. from the Experimental Department. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} seems pretty well satisfied that the scheme is satisfactory and has received sufficient experimental testing. All that is required now is to find out whether any trouble arises on the car which is now in France and is being used at high speeds and over indifferent road surfaces. By the time the dies are sunk and forgings made we should be able to say definitely whether the scheme should be adopted generally. Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} | ||
